What is covered and what is not?


When you buy from Smartphones Direct, you are not just buying a pre owned device, you are buying the highest quality refurbished device that money can buy. We stand over our refurbished products so much, that we offer a warranty for over a full year. In the unlikely event that there is a fault with your device, we ask that you read the below information as this covers a lot of issues that may seem like a fault, that can be easily rectified.



Software issues

 Is your phone taking longer than normal to turn on? Maybe it is gone very slow?  These could be caused by a bad update, a bad app that was recently installed, or just a bug in the software of iOs/Android operating systems.

By following our steps below, you will be able to determine whether you must send your device back to our technicians for a closer look.

Please backup your device before trying these steps. It is your responsibility to ensure that your device is backed up properly before proceeding.


Apple devices:

 Reset From Device

1 Click on “Settings” and then on “General.”

2 Scroll to the bottom of the General tab and click “Reset.”

3 Tap “Erase all Content and Settings.”

4 Enter your passcode (if you have set one) and confirm your reset by tapping “Erase iPhone.”


Android device:

The first option is to perform a Factory Reset, which is the easiest way to perform a reset for those who can access their smartphone’s settings. If you’ve already backed up your files, you can easily return your phone to its factory defaults via the Settings menu.

Step 1: Open Settings and scroll down to the Backup and reset option. Toward the bottom of the screen, tap Factory Data Reset.

Step 2: The on-screen prompts will warn you that all data will be lost and your phone will return to its default settings. Confirm that you wish to perform the reset, and then press Reset Device.

Step 3: There will be one final warning. Tap Delete All to proceed. Your phone will now be restored to its factory settings.



Hardware issues:

With so many electrical components in devices today, it is a reality that from time to time, a part may stop working. With our industry leading quality assurance programme, this is kept to a minimum, as all devices undergo extensive testing before they are given our stamp of approval.


Below is a list of what is covered by or warranty.

  • Problems with signal, no service, no networks, not registered in network, (network, wifi, bluetooth, gps)
  • Phone not turning on
  • Phone not charging
  • Camera faulty (cant focus, distorted photos)
  • Microphone not working or muffled
  • Speaker not working or muffled
  • Problems with battery
  • No display or display black
  • Problems with touch screen
  • One of the buttons not working or working intermittently
  • Any other hardware fault


What is not covered under warranty?


  • Physical damage - if you dropped your phone 
  • Water/Liquid Damage - if water or liquid got in to the phone
  • If phone was repaired by another repair centre (ie screen was replaced) your Warranty is void
